Sunway University Advances Academic Collaboration through Guest Lecture Series at Taylor’s University

Sunway University’s Centre for Commercial Law and Justice engaged with postgraduate law students at Taylor’s University through a two-part guest lecture series on International Business Law, held on 27 June and 4 July 2026.

Representing the Centre for Commercial Law and Justice, Vijayganesh Pullikutthyayanar explored key principles and contemporary issues in international business and investment law with LLM students at the School of Law and Governance, Taylor’s University.

The first lecture, “Applicable Laws: The Sources of International Law,” examined the principal sources and foundations of international law, including treaties, customary international law, general principles of law, judicial decisions, soft law, jus cogens and municipal law. The second lecture, “Protection of Foreign Investment,” explored key aspects of international investment law, including state sovereignty, expropriation, standards of compensation, investor protection and the internationalisation of state contracts.

The lecture series provided LLM students with an opportunity to engage with core legal principles governing international business and investment, while facilitating academic exchange between Sunway University and Taylor’s University. The engagement also reflects the Centre for Commercial Law and Justice’s commitment to contributing to legal scholarship, postgraduate education and academic collaboration in the field of commercial and international law.
