Sunway University Signs MoU with Boehringer Ingelheim: Advancing Pharmaceutical Education & Research
On the 11th of June 2026, the School of Pharmacy, Sunway University proudly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Boehringer Ingelheim (BI) Malaysia, marking Sunway as the first non-profit private university in Malaysia to partner with BI in this capacity.
The MOU signing ceremony took place at the Chancellory Suite, Sunway University, and was graced by senior leadership from both organisations, including:
- Prof Abhi Veerakumarasivam, Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Sunway University
- Mr Cheong Yee Kok, General Manager and Head of Human Pharma, Boehringer Ingelheim Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia
This strategic partnership focused on:
- Capacity building
- Student development and industry exposure
- Joint research in health economics & outcomes research, and real-world evidence
Spearheaded by the School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medical & Life Sciences, this collaboration strengthens the bridge between academia, the pharmaceutical industry, and the Ministry of Health, paving the way for impactful, policy-relevant research and talent development.
