Dr Kang Chuen Siang​

Kang is an expert on remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS)applications on climate change and sustainable development. He received his PhD inRemote Sensing from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2017. He gained furtherexpertise as a postdoctoral researcher in the Institute of Remote Sensing and DigitalEarth, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Kang spent another two years as a postdoctoralfellow in the Department of Geoinformation, UTM, managing a project on the impact ofland use land cover change (LULCC) on river morphology changes and ecosystemservices evaluation.​​

​He worked with the Low Carbon Society (LCS) Research Group in UTM, mapping thegreen and blue infrastructure of Iskandar Malaysia and DBKL to support the LCSreporting and implementation in the two cities. His main interests are environmentalsustainability, ecosystem services, climate change, and smart city planning. At ThinkCity, he is involved in developing the Malaysia Urban Observatory, impact​ assessment of climate risk and vulnerability, and a geospatial machine-learning model. ​​

Kang is a Professional Member (Geospatialist, Gs.) of the Institute of Geospatial andRemote Sensing Malaysia (IGRSM). He is a result-driven researcher with high technicalskills in spatial and non-spatial data analytics.​​
