Sunway University Press was delighted to be part of a relaxed and engaging author session with Dr Tamas Kiss, who shared fascinating stories about Hungarian explorer János Xántus and his four months in Sarawak in 1870.
Dr Tamas explored Xántus’s journey, his observations of Sarawak, and his work as a naturalist and ethnographer. His records provide a rare glimpse into the people, culture, and daily life of Sarawak during the 19th century.
The session also offered an opportunity for guests to discover Xantus and Borneo, published by Sunway University Press, and learn more about the remarkable historical connection between Hungary and Borneo.
With good conversations, interesting stories, and authentic Hungarian food from Paprika Paradise – PaPa, it was a relaxed evening where history, culture, books, and food came together.
A wonderful way to discover the story behind Xantus and Borneo.
