Postgrad StudentBiography
Hi! I’m Carmen. I am a PhD candidate who explores the evolution of propaganda and mass communication—tracing its transformation from the powerful visual rhetoric of totalitarian regimes to today’s digital persuasion strategies. My research, From Nazi Propaganda to Digital Persuasion: A Comparative Analysis of Mass Communication Strategies Across Historical and Contemporary Contexts, examines how propaganda has shifted from posters and radio broadcasts to social media algorithms, AI-generated content, and digital echo chambers.
Building on my Master’s research, Visualizing Ideology: A Semiotic Analysis of Nazi Propaganda Posters, I continue to explore how design, semiotics, and cultural narratives shape public perception. By bridging historical and contemporary contexts, I uncover the
mechanics of influence that shape the way we think, believe, and act in the digital age.
Passionate about media literacy, critical thinking, and the impact of emerging technologies on society, I aim to spark meaningful conversations, challenge perspectives, and help people navigate today’s media landscape with a sharper, more discerning eye
