Biography

Ding Guo is a PhD student in Creative Arts and Media at the School of Arts, Sunway University, Malaysia. Prior to her PhD studies, she was a lecturer at the School of Film and Television, Sichuan University of Media and Communication.

Her doctoral research focuses on the role of Western food vloggers as cultural brokers, examining how they shape perceptions of Southwest Chinese cuisine and influence Western understandings of China. She is investigating in analyzing how the vloggers’ discursive power on social media affects audience engagement and contributes to the promotion and commercialization of Chinese local culinary heritage and tourism.
