Postgrad StudentBiography
Hello, my name is Fan Xiaolei, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in Creative Arts and Media Studies. My research focuses on “Immersive Spatial Narrative Design for the Inheritance and Dissemination of Ru Porcelain Culture.” In this project, I will investigate how immersive spatial narratives—through physical environments, design, and storytelling—can play a role in preserving and promoting the rich culture of Ru porcelain. By engaging the sensory and experiential qualities of space, I aim to create immersive environments that not only convey the cultural significance of Ru porcelain but also ensure its continued relevance and accessibility for modern audiences.
For my Master’s research, I explored “Preserving Zhu Xian Town Woodblock Print Legacy: A Creative Approach to Intangible Cultural Heritage Revival.” As part of this project, I designed a highly creative book that utilized research data to present and promote the legacy of Zhu Xian Town woodblock prints in an engaging and visually appealing manner. The book was intended to facilitate a deeper connection with this cultural heritage, using innovative design to raise awareness and foster a greater appreciation for this important form of intangible cultural heritage.
I am deeply passionate about Chinese culture, particularly the preservation and dissemination of intangible cultural heritage. Throughout my academic journey, I have sought to approach these topics from multiple perspectives, leveraging creative design methods to develop practical solutions that encourage broader public engagement with and understanding of traditional Chinese culture.
