About Shoebox Project

Previously named Shoebox Christmas, the Shoebox Project is an annual event initiated and organised by Sunway Student Volunteers (SSV) with the aim of providing educational gifts to children from marginalised communities such as B40 families, orphanages, refugees and the disabled community. In previous years, this initiative has not only gifted shoeboxes filled with educational materials but also provided groceries to the underprivileged families as well.

In 2024, a new approach to Shoebox Christmas, currently known as the Shoebox Project, is being introduced, focusing on making a more significant and lasting impact. By providing fewer shoeboxes, resources will be utilised more effectively. Efforts will now be concentrated around international days and festive seasons, ensuring that our contributions are timely and meaningful.

Additionally, emphasising the importance of drinking clean water is crucial to ensure better overall health and well-being, as clean water helps reduce the risk of diseases. Hence, to ensure clean water is accessible to the indigenous community, which lacks access to clean water, a fundraising campaign to purchase water filters for the indigenous community has been launched. This initiative reflects a commitment to addressing critical needs and promoting holistic community development.
