Sunway University is Ranked No. 1 Private University in ASEAN For The Second Year Running!

Sunway University has once again been recognised as the top-ranking private university in ASEAN, securing the top spot out of 100 institutions in the AppliedHE Private University Ranking: ASEAN 2025. The rankings were announced on day 1 of the AppliedHE Xchange: Recognising Excellence, Diversity and Impact, hosted at Sunway University. The first day of this prestigious event featured delegates from a wide range of universities from across the ASEAN region, with a primary focus on teaching and learning quality, student satisfaction, and employability outcomes. There were exciting panel discussions, engaging elevator pitch sessions and even a debate! The event will continue tomorrow, with more sessions to look forward to.

The AppliedHE ranking system highlights institutions that provide the best overall learning experience and preparation for future employment, making it a highly sought-after recognition. The ranking is unique in its scope due to the fact that it only includes universities located in the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries that award locally accredited degrees. The system also rewards institutions that have a strong focus on quality of Teaching and Learning and Employability. The quality of Teaching and Learning metric is responsible for 40 %of the score, while the Employability metric is responsible for 15-20%. Research, Internationalisation, Community Engagement, and Institutional Reputation, or brand value, are also included. Sunway University's high-scoring in these areas underscores its dedication to delivering high-quality education and career-ready graduates.
