Sunway University Press’ “Story Sharing Buddyz” initiative, which was part of the recently concluded Campus With A Conscience—Local Action For Global Goals 2023 campaign by Sunway University, leaves behind a heartwarming trail of new friendships and shared stories.
From 18 to 22 September 2023, the Sunway University Foyer was transformed into a hub for book lovers and enthusiasts. The “Story Sharing Buddyz” initiative featured a unique donation booth filled with pre-loved books, inviting everyone to explore and take home their favourite reads for free.
The magic of this initiative went beyond books. When someone picked up a pre-loved book and delved into its story, they were encouraged to reach out to the book’s previous owner to share their appreciation. It was a simple idea, but it sparked countless conversations and new friendships.
Stories That Bring People Together
The initiative was a testament to the power of stories to connect people. Participants not only found new reading material but also kindred spirits with whom they could discuss their favourite books and authors.
The event’s success was a beautiful reminder that books have the extraordinary ability to create connections and forge lasting friendships. The shared love for literature became a common ground for individuals to meet and build bonds that went beyond the event’s duration.
A Lasting Legacy of Connection
While the event has come to an end, the impact lingers. The sense of togetherness and the memories of new friendships created through “Story Sharing Buddyz” continue to warm the hearts of those who participated. This initiative, which celebrated the love for books and the joy of sharing stories, proved that the human touch is just as important as the words on the pages.
If you missed out on this heartwarming event, keep an eye out for future initiatives from Sunway University Press. After all, the power of books to bring people closer and create meaningful connections is timeless, and there is always room for more stories to be shared and new friends to be made within the community.
