Biography
Matthew Carvalho is the Adjunct Research Fellow in Global Governance and Diplomacy at the Sunway Centre for Planetary Health, a joint position he holds with the O'Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC. Matthew is a researcher of public international law and the first youth delegate of the United States of America to the World Health Assembly. Specializing in law, governance, and diplomacy for planetary health, Matthew has worked multiple jobs in the global health governance fields, including for the United States Congress and the Department of Health and Human Services. He served as the inaugural policy fellow for the Planetary Health Alliance, and maintains an associate fellowship with the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law. He is also the co-chair of the newly established Global Health Law Committee of the American Branch of the International Law Association. He serves as co-founder of the Global Health Governance as Public Service (GHGAPS) program, which he started during his undergraduate degree at Georgetown University, and now serves in an advisory capacity to both the USA and Malaysia programs. He is currently pursuing his law degree as part of Georgetown Law's evening program, and looks forward to advancing the work of SCPH at the global governance level.
