Achieving Sustainable Food Systems
Global food systems and extractive are wasteful. Our relationship with the natural world and current means of food production and consumption, and wastage must change.
Climate change and other environmental pressures are threatening the ability of societies to provide food and nutrition for their citizens, including in Asia and the Pacific. Furthermore, current food systems are generating what has been called the ‘syndemic’ of undernutrition, obesity, climate change, and biodiversity loss.
To achieve food security for us and for generations to come, agro-food systems must consider both human needs and the protection of the planet’s boundaries.
