Public Access to Buildings
SDG 11.2.1
The University ensures free public access to all designated culturally significant buildings, monuments, and community spaces on campus. As part of its urban sustainability strategy, the main campus is intentionally designed to be publicly accessible, with direct connections to Sunway City through open pedestrian walkways and public transport links. Visitors are able to enter the campus freely with no entrance fee, ensuring an integrated and inclusive environment.
"Destiny": A Sculpture by Sunway's Resident Artist, Infantino Fernandez
Significant public monuments and artworks, including the “Destiny” sculpture, are located in open outdoor areas that are accessible to all members of the public. These cultural features function as freely accessible heritage and artistic landmarks, reinforcing the University’s commitment to open cultural engagement.
Jeffrey Cheah Hall and Jeffrey Cheah Auditoriums
The University provides free access to multiple publicly accessible buildings and cultural facilities, including the Jeffrey Cheah Hall and its auditoriums, which regularly host public events, distinguished lectures, and community conferences with open admission.
The Gallery and School of Art Gallery
The Exhibition Hall in the West Building operates as an open-access exhibition space for displays, forums, community showcases, and cultural activities, all available to the public without charge. Moreover, the School of Art Gallery provides free public access to rotating exhibitions featuring student artworks, performances, and curated showcases by external and featured artists, enabling broad community participation in cultural and artistic programming.
Sunway University Open Space Foyer
The University Open Space Foyer is an additional publicly accessible area frequently used for student society carnivals, exhibitions, conferences, and community outreach activities.
Only operational spaces—such as academic teaching areas, administrative offices, the main library, and student residence halls—have controlled access for safety and learning integrity. All cultural, artistic, community-facing, or otherwise significant public buildings and spaces remain open, freely and fully accessible to the public.
