Affordable Housing for Students

Evaluating Affordability for Student Housing

Student housing is offered at rates starting as low as RM440 (USD 104) per month, which is significantly more affordable than the prevailing rental costs in the surrounding Sunway City area. Given the location’s proximity to major facilities such as a theme park, shopping mall, convention centre, and hospital, private rental rates are typically much higher. By maintaining accommodation options at these accessible rates, affordability is effectively evaluated against the local housing market, ensuring that students have access to safe and reasonably priced housing.

Providing Housing Directly

The University makes accommodation directly available to students through purpose-built on-campus and nearby off-campus residences that are owned and managed by the institution. These housing options are offered at accessible rates and are designed to provide safe, convenient, and community-oriented living environments that support students’ academic and personal well-being.

Accommodation available at:

  • Sun-U Apartment
  • Sun-U Residence
  • Sunway Waterfront Residence

Providing Financial Support

In addition to offering accommodation at affordable rates, the University extends financial support through scholarships, bursaries, and other aid packages that can be applied toward housing costs. These allowances are made available through our scholarship programs, including the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation Community Scholarship and the Sunway Education Group-Elena Cooke Education Fund, helping to make quality housing accessible and affordable for our students in need.

This additional support ensures that accommodation remains accessible even for students from lower-income backgrounds, thereby reducing financial burden and enhancing equal opportunity for all students.
