Sunway University actively participates in international collaboration on gathering and measuring data for the SDGs.
Sunway University actively participates in international collaboration on gathering and measuring data for the SDGs.
As a Signatory of the SDG Accord, Sunway University contributes to the international higher education community’s collective effort to gather and report data on progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through its participation in the Annual SDG Accord Report, the University shares institutional data and insights that form part of a global dataset, supporting international measurement and benchmarking of SDG impact across the sector.
Sunway University through Sunway Centre for Planetary Health (SCPH) partnered with the Planetary Health Alliance and several higher education institutions worldwide in developing the Planetary Health Roadmap and Action Plan 2024. This collaborative effort integrates global expertise to address the interconnections between human wellbeing and environmental sustainability, thereby contributing directly to advancing the SDG agenda.
In preparing the Roadmap, the Research Centre undertook systematic processes of data gathering and measurement across key domains of planetary health, including climate change, biodiversity, food systems, and public health. The evidence generated was consolidated and analysed to ensure that the recommendations of the publication were grounded in measurable outcomes, aligned with SDG indicators, and adaptable for global use. Such activities strengthen the ability of governments, institutions, and networks to monitor and evaluate progress toward achieving the SDGs.
These sustained efforts highlight the University’s role as a global knowledge producer, convener, and collaborator in embedding data gathering and measurement into the pursuit of sustainable development.
