The traditional model for biomedical discovery funded by a single government agency or foundation has served us well for many decades but it is not equipped to address the big global challenges we face.

In this lecture, Professor David Golan will illustrate the work at Harvard Medical School (HMS) using the Massachusetts Consortium on Pathogen Readiness, focused on COVID-19 research and pandemic preparedness, and the HMS Therapeutics initiative, concentrated on translating basic science discoveries toward the development of new therapeutics and training the next generation of inventors in this area.
