Asia Pacific Dance Festival
Students Cheok Hymm and Aaron Chieng from the BA (Hons) Digital Film Production degree together with Azeem Shah and Imran Marshal from the BA (Hons) Contemporary Music (Audio Technology) degree were awarded a paid internship at the 2019 Asia Pacific Dance Festival (APDF) & Conference that took place July 22 – August 4 in Honolulu, Hawai’i. The students were invited by the Arts Program of the prestigious East-West Center located at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa campus. The East-West Center is an education and research organization established by the U.S. Congress in 1960 to strengthen relations and understanding among the peoples and nations of Asia, the Pacific, and the United States.
The students carried out audio and visual documentation of dance workshops, interviews, and concerts towards the production of a documentary. Through this experience, the School of Arts students met numerous artists and built new friendships, as well as professional connections. As mentioned by Azeem Shah: “It was an experience of a lifetime!”
