Second Runner-up - Actuarial Challenge "Predictive Modelling Hackathon"

The School of Mathematical Sciences is immensely proud to highlight the success of our first-and second-year students who won Second Runner-Up in the Actuary Today 2024 Actuarial Challenge "Predictive Modelling Hackathon" hosted by the UTAR Actuarial Science Society.

Jannson Ng Chen Xun, Grace Ho Wei Tjin, Lee Han Yang, Michelle Thong Mei Yin and Mooi Chun Yan, all of whom are members of Sunway Actuarial & Financial Excellence (SAFE), were tasked with coding a predictive model that would help a human resources department scan through resumes and select top applicants to invite for an interview, while also achieving the company’s preset requirements within a 10-hour timeframe.

The judges highlighted that our student’s presentation was concise, easy to understand, insightful and had the best executive summary of all the competitors.

Once again, congratulations! You continue to inspire the School of Mathematical Sciences with the level of proactiveness, tenacity and professionalism that you have demonstrated.
