Sunway University: Top 20 Globally!
Sunway University is proud to announce that we have been placed in the 201-300 band for THE Impact Rankings 2024, being ranked #5 in Malaysia. This is an improvement from our previous position in the 301-400 band.
The THE Impact Rankings identify and celebrate universities that excel across multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), integrating scores across multiple SDGs. As per Times Higher Education, Universities placed within the rankings “demonstrate comprehensive excellence in contributing to global sustainable development.”
Sunway University has excelled notably in four SDGs:
- SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) – Ranked 14th (#1 in Malaysia)
- SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) – Ranked 17th (#1 in Malaysia)
- SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) – Ranked 64th (#3 in Malaysia)
- SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals) – Ranked 99th (#6 in Malaysia)
The University has also achieved commendable rankings in two other SDGs:
- SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) – Band 101-200 (#6 in Malaysia)
- SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) – Band 101-200 (#3 in Malaysia)
For this year’s rankings, Sunway University submitted 6 SDGs to be evaluated. As seen above, the University received an improved ranking in all six when compared to the previous year. This is a great achievement and one that all our Sunwayians should be proud of! This success highlights Sunway's dedication to sustainability and our ongoing efforts to make a positive impact on global development. It underscores our commitment to excellence and our proactive approach to addressing pressing global challenges. We are proud of our progress and remain dedicated to further advancing our contributions to the SDGs.
