Sunway University hosted the ASEAN Workshop on Sustainable Development 2025, organised by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN-SDSN) Asia headquarters. The event brought together senior Cabinet members, high-level ASEAN delegates, and leading academics to generate impactful policy recommendations, supporting Malaysia’s ASEAN chairmanship in 2025.

The opening ceremony featured distinguished speakers, including Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister II, YAB Dato' Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, who delivered the keynote address; ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn; UN-SDSN President and Sunway University Honorary Distinguished Professor Jeffrey Sachs; and UN-SDSN Malaysia Chair Tan Sri Sir Dr. Jeffrey Cheah KBE AO.

With the theme "The Future of Southeast Asia’s Energy, Economics, and the Environment," this two-day workshop fostered meaningful dialogue on achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, in line with Malaysia’s MADANI vision of sustainability.

Together, we are shaping a sustainable and resilient ASEAN future.
