Sunway University has been recognised as Malaysia’s Best University for Sustainability & Community Transformation at the Malaysia Education & TVET Awards (META) 2026, honoring the institution’s continued commitment to sustainability, community development, and social impact.

This recognition reflects Sunway University’s dedicated efforts to create meaningful impact beyond the classroom through education, research, strategic partnerships, and community engagement. It also highlights the university’s commitment to working collaboratively with communities and local stakeholders to address real-world environmental and societal challenges.

This accolade comes alongside Sunway University’s strong performance in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ratings 2026, where the university was ranked #45 globally and #1 among private universities in ASEAN. Sunway University also ranked #5 globally for both SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, reinforcing its growing leadership in sustainable development and community-focused impact across Malaysia and the wider region.

The Sunway Desa Mentari Community Development Programme (SDMCDP) serves as an important driver of this commitment.
