A Poetry Anthology and Other Narratives

This anthology is a collection of 30 award-winning poems from 2018 to 2024, with insights into the origins, structure, and aspirations of SNaPS™, and also guiding fresh poets on what a poetry slam is. This collection highlights the importance of slam poetry in Malaysia, and its lasting impact on the arts community.

SNaPS™: A Poetry Anthology and Other Narratives captures the vibrant journey of the Sunway International Schools (SIS) Inter-School Poetry Slam—from its humble beginnings in 2013 to a nationwide event of spoken word. This collection features winning poems from 2018 to 2024, exploring themes such as identity, culture, and nationhood. More than an anthology, the book offers insights into the origins, structure, and aspirations of SNaPS™, while also guiding fresh poets on the basics and how-tos of poetry slam. A celebration of the collaborative effort between SIS and the vibrant community of local and international poets who nurtured this movement, this book highlights how slam poetry can inspire, connect and empower youths across Malaysia—leaving a lasting impact on individuals and the arts community alike.
