Welcome to Woyae Tangae (wayang tangan), a modern reimagining of Wayang Kulit, the captivating shadow puppet theatre of Southeast Asia. For centuries, Wayang Kulit has transported audiences to worlds of myth and legend through the interplay of light, shadow, and intricately crafted puppets. Woyae Tangae builds upon this rich tradition, offering a contemporary and interactive experience.
Here, the audience becomes the puppeteer! Step into the world of shadow play and discover the magic of digital puppetry. Using a sensor equipped with Hand Tracking technology, your hand movements directly control virtual puppets. No physical puppets are required – your gestures become the performance. Wave your hand to make a character soar, clench your fist to trigger a dramatic pose, or move your fingers to create subtle nuances of expression.
This unique setup allows for spontaneous and personalized storytelling. Each participant creates a unique shadow play, offering a fresh perspective on this ancient art form. Experiment, play, and create your own shadow stories! Imagine new narratives, reinterpret classic tales, or simply explore the expressive possibilities of virtual puppetry.
Woyae Tangae invites you to engage with Wayang Kulit in a dynamic and innovative way, bridging tradition and technology to create a shared experience for all. Discover the magic of Woyae Tangae – where your hands bring the shadows to life.
