Biography
Chee Sze Yin is a graphic designer and illustrator with a background in advertising and branding. She has been lecturing for approximately twelve years in various Design programmes in Malaysia and taught a range of design, history, communication theory, and visual narrative subjects. She is a passionate advocate for Design Thinking and coaches her students to learn from their explorations and experimentations. Her Master’s studies centered on the social commentary conveyed through the adaptation of Japanese folklore in 20th – 21st century Japanese animation. Her current research revolves around entertainment media (particularly animation, comics and computer games), the culture of its viewers and creators in Southeast Asia and beyond.
