Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Practice

Overview

The programme invites higher education academics who are looking for opportunities to improve their practice and to gain a better understanding of theoretical educational frameworks, theories and principles that are applicable to your practice. Through  engagement with and reflection on data from multiple lenses (students, self, literature, and peers), participants in the programme embark on a journey of discovery on what worked and what did not work in their practice and strategise plans for improvement within the context of their practice.

In the programme, students will engage in a comprehensive curriculum covering essential facets of higher education, including Introduction to Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, Curriculum Design, Technology to Support Learning, Reflective Practice in Teaching, and more. The carefully curated subjects address the evolving needs of modern higher education, ensuring participants relevant engagement with topics that matter.

The programme is structured to accommodate the demanding schedules of academics. It spans 1 year 5 months in a part-time format, enabling participants to balance academic pursuits with existing commitments.

Entry Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent, with a minimum CGPA of 2.50, as accepted by the HEP’s Senate; or

A Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent, not meeting CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to a minimum of five (5) years working experience in a relevant field.

English Language Requirements

The programme adheres to the minimum that is set by the institution, which is IELTS 6.0 or its equivalent.

Exceptions are made for international candidates who originate from a country that uses English as its official language, or candidates whose academic qualification is from an institution that fully uses English as its language of instruction, aligned to English competency requirement for international students, set by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.
