Project Description

The objective of this project is to investigate whether co-operation improves cognitive performance in young and old Malaysians. This will be achieved by assessing general and specific cognitive functions before and after independent vs. co-operative tasks.

Secondarily, the mediating role of inter-brain synchrony will be investigated
through EEG measures during tasks. Finally, long-term benefits of co-operation will be assessed through a longitudinal study.

The results of this project could provide a foundation to develop the best approaches to utilise social interaction to improve cognitive health, and potentially buffer against the risk of cognitive decline in Malaysia’s growing aging population.
