Biography

Dr Hajara Mohamed Saleeth is a finance and accounting academic with a PhD in Finance from Monash University Malaysia. She is a professionally qualified accountant, holding the Associate Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designations from Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), UK. She also holds a Master of International Business from Monash University Malaysia and is a recipient of the Dean’s Honour Award for academic excellence. Prior to her academic career, she gained extensive professional experience across government and private-sector organizations, bringing a strong industry perspective to her academic work.

Her research interests center on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) disclosures, corporate sustainability, corporate governance, institutional quality, economic policy uncertainty, and firm value. Her doctoral research examined the relationship between ESG disclosures and firm value across global markets, with particular emphasis on the roles of national institutional environments and economic policy uncertainty. Her research in this area has received academic recognition, including the Best Paper Award at the 18th Doctoral Colloquium of the School of Business, Monash University Malaysia. Building on her doctoral research, her ongoing work further examines ESG disclosures and firm value relationships across emerging economies and sin industries, using advanced econometric and machine-learning approaches.

percentile upon completion of Master of International Business in 2022.

Recipient of Graduate Research Excellence Scholarship - a merit scholarship that offers tuition fee
waiver and stipend for PhD studies at Monash University, Malaysia.

Runners-up in Monash PITCH (PhD Interdisciplinary Team Challenge) 2024, which brought
together 60 high-performing PhD students from across Monash's faculties and campuses, held from
23rd to 27th September 2024.
