- What is Inbound Mobility for Visiting Students?
Inbound Mobility for Visiting Students are programmes which are offered to students who are currently enrolled in a home institution outside Malaysia. Students who wish to study at Sunway University as a visiting student can choose between a Long-Term or Short-Term Mobility programme. Upon completion of the programme at Sunway, students will return to their home institution to complete the rest of their studies.
- What is a Long-Term Mobility programme?
Long-Term Mobility programme can span between 3 to 12 months. Students who are enrolled into this programme will be studying alongside our fulltime students and are expected to fulfil the requirements of the programme. At the end of the semester, students will be graded and will earn the transferable credits that their home institution can recognise.
- What are the visa requirements for Long-Term Mobility programme?
Students will have to apply for the Mobility Student Visa which is a one-time study visa for a duration for up to 12 months. This visa is non-renewable. The university will assist you in your visa application once we have received the complete set of your application documents and there are no outstanding issues as well as upon receiving the payments for the visa fees.
- What is a Short-Term Mobility programme?
Short-Term Mobility programme such as the Vacation English Programme, Academic Short Courses, Edutourism programmes such as The Malaysian Experience are short courses offered for the duration between 2 to 12 weeks. Visiting student typically spend their Summer or Winter semester break enrolled in these programmes.
- What are the visa requirements for Short Term Mobility programme?
The Social Visit Pass will be issued to the students and the validity of the said pass depends on the eligibility of each nationality. The university will assist you to apply for an EMGS Supporting Letter once we have received the complete set of your application documents and there are no outstanding issues as well as upon receiving the payments for the visa fees.
- I would like my credits at Sunway University to be recognised at my home institution. What should I do?
Working with your academic advisor from your home institution, you are responsible to identify the list of subjects you wish to take at Sunway by referring to the subject list on our website. Please download and complete the request form and email it to [email protected]
You will then be directed to an academic advisor at Sunway University who will work with you to complete the credit mapping exercise.
Please ensure that you complete the credit mapping exercise before submitting your application documents to Sunway University.
- Will my home university recognise all the credits that I have obtained from Sunway University?
Sunway University will issue credits upon successful completion of the program. It's important to note that the recognition of these credits is subject to the policies of your home institution. Students are responsible for coordinating with their home institution to facilitate the credit recognition process.
- I am not required to transfer my credits from Sunway University to my home institution. Do I need to do the Credit Mapping?
No, you do not have to. You can proceed directly to the application process.

- Which application form should I complete if I am planning to study in the Intensive English Programme then progressing to a University Major?
You must complete two forms : Undergraduate and Undergraduate (Intensive English Programme).
- What are the eligibility requirements to participate in the program?
You must be an active student in your home university.
- Can I choose which courses I want to take while studying abroad?
You can be offered the subjects that you have pre-selected during the subject mapping if the subject is offered in the given semester. If you do not have any pre-requisite courses, you will usually be offered a Year 1 subject or one that does not have a pre-requisite or co-requisite.
- Is there an English language proficiency requirement?
Yes, please refer to the English Language Requirement stated on our website for the major that you are interested in.
- What are the accommodation options for inbound students?

- How do I obtain a student visa for studying in your country?
International Office of Sunway University will assist the student in the visa application.
- Can I work part-time during my study abroad experience?
No, this is not permitted.
- Will I have access to support services like academic advising and counseling?
Yes, as a visiting student you will be afforded the full services like our full time students.
