Sunway ADTP student shines in the US

After graduating from the American Degree Program at Sunway University, Mahder Serekberhan, a double major in international studies and political science, transferred to Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she has showcased her leadership and academic skills.  An honors student, she has written a paper on diplomatic and trade relations that was accepted for a poster presentation at the Midwest Political Science Association Conference. 

Serving as president of the Social Justice Club and vice-president of the International Student Club, Mahder initiated a student-organized event on immigration and refugees which drew a packed crowd from the university and local community and which won the Student Government Association award for best club event.  Mahder also serves as Opinion Editor for the Mount Mercy Times newspaper and has volunteered as an International Student Ambassador to talk to new students about Mount Mercy.
