SHSM would like to congratulate the winning team on their creative idea and excellent presentation. These students will be representing Malaysia in the virtual AFECA Asia MICE Youth Challenge on 25 November 2021.
This national competition was organised by the Business & Major Events Academic Council (BMEAC) under the purview of Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (MACEOS). The business events industry has been transformed in recent years due to the pandemic and technological developments. This means that event organisers would need to harness new opportunities to remain relevant in the industry. Given the possibilities of new sets of challenges in the coming years, it is important that the events industry players explore new and unique ideas.
Other contesters also include teams from Taylor’s Univerisity, UiTM, Politeknik Metro Betong Sarawak, and Kolej Universiti Islam Melaka. Apart from the Sun-U Titans, Sunway University was also represented Sun-U Limited comprising Kelly Law Xiao Xuan Law, Goh Hwee Yu Goh, Ho Su Ying Ho and You Hyun Kim. The School would also like to thank them for their participation in this challenge.
The School is very proud on the achievement and participation of BSc (Hons) Conventions and Events Management students and the support of the Events lecturers. Leading facilitator Ms Hairani M Nur, Senior Teaching Fellow and Associate Programme Leader for Events, mentioned that “We hope our students’ participation and winning inspires their peers to explore learning beyond the classroom and to encourage them to embrace additional challenges in their academic journey – all of which could strengthen their soft skills and develop an innovative mindset”.
