Does Beauty Still Exist In Architecture, Art & Design?
On 24 September 2021, Sunway University Press (SUP) celebrated art and beauty with a special event. The event comprised an open lecture titled Does Beauty Still Exist In Architecture, Art & Design?, which delved deep into the meaning and value of beauty in art today, and a book launch of a new SUP book titled An Introduction to the History of Architecture, Art & Design by author George T Gray.
During the lecture, Gray shared the rich history and evolution of architecture, art and design, detailing the various design movements and visual arts and their impact on society and environment. Through interactive discussion between the author and participants, the lecture kept viewers engaged and elicited many differing opinions on what was considered beautiful.
Event participants mainly consisted of students from different universities and colleges, as well as academics, designers, and the interested members of the public. The lecture was followed by the launch of the book An Introduction to the History of Architecture, Art & Design written by Gray.
