Information Source and Tourist Expenditure: Evidence from Sarawak, Malaysia
“Information source and tourist expenditure: Evidence from Sarawak, Malaysia” has just been published in Current Issues in Tourism, an A-ranked journal by Routledge.
As information empowers decision making, Hassan Kalantari, Ryan Jopp, Hassan Gholipour Fereidouni, Edith Lim, Lynn Wee, and Prof. Lim Weng Marc have explored how source of travel information used by tourists, both pre-trip and in-destination, impacts on tourist expenditure.
Our findings indicate that tourists who used travel agencies/tour operators and magazines/newspapers prior to their visit are likely to spend more, whereas tourists tend to use the internet to find the best prices on various activities during their visit and thus causing them to spend less.
