Sunway Business School hosted an event titled "Power of Planning - Transforming Your Financial Future." This insightful event was organised by the Sunway AKPK Club, aiming to achieve the following objectives:

  • Enlighten Sunway Accounting and Finance degree students about the professional career pathways available through the Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC). We also highlighted the exemptions and advantages offered to students studying Finance, Economics, and Accounting at Sunway.
  •  Offer real-life exposure and valuable insights into the roles and challenges faced by practicing financial planners and industry experts.
  • Foster understanding about legitimate investment opportunities in financial planning and the role of the Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia.

Panellists for the event included:

  • Ms. Chung Kah Ying - Executive Director of the Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC)
  • Mr. Jorden Peh - Practicing Associate Director at YES Financial Berhad and a National Council Member of the MFPC
  • Puan Ida Shafinaz A. Malek - Senior Manager of Corporate Communications at the Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia
  • Moderated by Dr Joyce Nga Koe Hwee - Senior Lecturer at Sunway Business School and Advisor of the Sunway-AKPK Club

The event delved into various topics, including distinguishing between an agent and a Registered Financial Planner, the significance of early and holistic financial planning, and discussions surrounding good and bad debt management and long-term retirement planning.
