Immersion Event at the School of American Education
April 23rd 2024 was a very exciting day for the School of American Education. SAE proudly hosted 156 secondary school students from three schools – Honsbridge International School, Frontier International School and Oakbridge International School for half the day. The schools were invited to participate in an Immersion event. This event’s main purpose was to provide an opportunity for the school students to be “immersed” into the classes that are offered by SAE so that they could experience the American education system first-hand.
To kick off the event, the students were provided briefings by the Head of the American Degree Transfer Program, Mr. Devandran Apparasamy and the representative of Cintana-Arizona State University, Mr. Kevin Lowrence about the degree pathways and various options offered by the collaboration between SAE and ASU. The students had already been split into ten different groups according to their interests in various subjects. The groups were named after ten American states ranging from California to Texas and so on.
These groups were then led by student volunteers to enter into the various classrooms to participate in the class activities planned for and executed by the talented staff of SAE. Ten lecturers conducted activities for ten separate classes with options in Chemistry, Biology, American Popular Music, Mathematics, Public Speaking, Environmental Studies, Economics, Psychology and Marketing. SAE lecturers did a fantastic job of creating truly unique and engaging activities for the school students.
After the class immersion the school students were encouraged to participate in a general activity called the “Great American Quiz” which tested the students’ general knowledge about American trivia with questions about movies, history, politics, etc. This activity saw the school students becoming very engaged and excited because the group which answered the fastest got the most points. The group from Georgia emerged as winners followed by California and Virginia.
The event was a huge success due to the hard work of the entire staff and students of SAE and the staff from the Marketing department.
