Sunway Student Volunteers Advocate for Feline Welfare at Ekspo Kucing
Passionate volunteers from Sunway Student Volunteers (SSV) had the incredible opportunity to join Shikin’s Team Animal Rescuer (STAR) at the Ekspo Kucing held at the World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur on 8 September 2024. This impactful event was dedicated to raising awareness about feline welfare and promoting adoption, as well as educating the public on the importance of TNRM (Trap, Neuter, Release and Manage) to control the stray population.
Upon arriving at World Trade Centre, the volunteers were briefed on their roles, which involved approaching expo attendees to encourage animal adoption and donations for the shelter. Beyond these efforts, they also played a crucial role in educating visitors about the TNRM programme – a sustainable solution to managing stray cat populations.
The volunteers spent the day engaging with the public, inspiring compassion for animals, and raising awareness about the importance of providing safe and loving homes for cats. Their dedication to the cause was evident as they spread the message of responsible pet ownership and encouraged visitors to consider adopting or supporting the cause through donations.
The Ekspo Kucing was a resounding success, not just for STAR, but for the SSV volunteers who worked tirelessly to make a difference and proud to have been part of such a heartwarming and impactful initiative. By the end of the day, everyone felt a sense of fulfillment knowing they contributed to making a positive impact on the lives of many cats.
