The Malaysian Code of Practice for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes (2015) regulates research involving animals in Malaysia. Researchers must obtain ethical approval for animal research studies, ensure that animals are treated humanely, and minimise pain and distress during research studies. The guidelines require that alternative methods to animal research be explored before animal studies are conducted.
