Overview
Sunway University aspires to be internationally recognised for the quality of its research in the key areas of strategic importance to Malaysia and regional economies. The University supports research by providing opportunities for its staff to develop a sustainable research program that will enable them to achieve excellent research outcomes (high impact publications, external grant applications, training of research personnel and developing strong research collaborations).
Four (4) research grant schemes have been established to support research, development and innovation.

Internal Grant Scheme
The internal grant supports research activities that would encourage the generation of theory, concepts, and innovative ideas, which can be the platform for the discovery of new knowledge and innovation.

Kick Start Grant Scheme
The grant scheme supports ECRs with the opportunity and experience to develop their research skills and build track record in producing high quality and high impact research outputs to progress their research careers.

Research Innovation Grant Scheme
The funding scheme will narrow the gap between research discoveries and commercialisation towards the invention of new technologies and/or discoveries in line with national and regional priorities areas.

ASEAN Strategic Grant Scheme
This scheme would fund interdisciplinary research projects that facilitate the discovery of solutions to complex issues affecting ASEAN member countries.
