Professor Rema Hanna is the Jeffrey Cheah Professor of South-East Asia Studies and Chair of the International Development Area at the Harvard Kennedy School. She serves as the Faculty Director of Evidence for Policy Design (EPOD) at Harvard's Center for International Development (CID) and is the co-Scientific Director of J-PAL Southeast Asia in Indonesia. Her research revolves around improving the provision of public services in developing and emerging nations, particularly for the very poor and her work has been published in leading economics journals.
Professor Hanna is a leading expert on social protection programmes and leads the Social Protection Initiative at Harvard CID and J-PAL/MIT. In this talk, she will highlight key policy challenges in providing social protection programmes and her cutting-edge research through her collaboration with partners in Indonesia.
