Combine Your Major with English Language Learning
Sunway University offers the Intensive English Programme for students looking to enhance their English skills while studying abroad. This highly effective course is perfect for those aiming to boost their language proficiency alongside their academic studies or wishing to incorporate English learning into their study abroad experience. Our flexible programme builds your confidence in English, ensuring a smooth transition into your major coursework and enriching your overall global education.
Who would benefit?
- Students looking to enhance their English proficiency to excel in an international academic environment.
- Students from universities where courses are not primarily taught in English, seeking language support for a smooth and enriching transition.
- Students whose study abroad programme includes English language learning as an essential component, such as those majoring in English or related fields. Pass Level 4 with minimum 65%.
English Placement Test
At the start of the programme, you'll take an English Placement Test to determine your current proficiency and place you in the appropriate class level.
Four Levels of English Instruction
Based on your test results, you'll be placed into one of four levels, each offering 200 hours of instruction over 10 weeks:
- Level 1 – Elementary
- Level 2 – Pre-Intermediate
- Level 3 – Intermediate
- Level 4 – Upper Intermediate
Progression Requirement
To meet the English language requirements for your main programme, you must pass IEP Level 4 with a minimum score of 65%.
Transition to Your Major
After successfully completing Level 4, you'll progress into your chosen major at Sunway University. The maximum duration of the programme is 12 months, allowing you to enhance your English skills while pursuing your academic goals.
