This exhibition will celebrate the history and legacy of Wayang Kulit, showcasing its unique blend of tradition and innovation that combines elements from mainland and island Southeast Asian shadow puppetry. The exhibition will raise awareness about this multicultural art form, particularly in light of Malaysia’s application to UNESCO for the recognition of Wayang Kulit Kelantan to the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2025. Sunway Centre for Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage will curate an exhibition featuring ten exhibits on Malaysian Wayang Kulit. The exhibits will be designed to be interactive with specially designed educational materials. The goal the exhibit is to foster appreciation and support for Malaysian Wayang Kulit as an invaluable cultural asset. The exhibition preview will be held during the Wayang Kulit Kelantan Festival spanning from 22nd to 23rd March 2025, and full run on from the 8th to 23rd April 2025.
