Environmental pollution and ecosystem damage have been long-standing problems in Malaysia; where economic development and growth have typically been achieved at the cost of environmental and social health. This study examined ways to streamline the governance structures of the various environmental-related agencies and ministries to achieve better environmental outcomes. Legislative and enforcement changes were recommended to strengthen the governance authority of the respective agencies. This study was done in collaboration with the Academy of Sciences Malaysia and the Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA).
