Researchers from School of Medical and Life Sciences at Sunway University, in collaboration with a local development cooperation, are conducting hydrological and ecological research to assess the water quality of Sunway South Quay Lake since 2022. This research aims to provide scientific insight and long-term solutions for maintaining and improving the lake’s condition. As a key component of Bandar Sunway’s sustainable city initiative, the lake serves both as a source of drinking water and as a flood control mechanism, making its health a top priority for Sunway Group.

Dr. Jit Ern Chen, a senior lecturer from the Department of Biological Sciences, School of Medical and Life Sciences, Sunway University, and his team have been tasked with monitoring the status of the lake, especially with regards to the state of the lake beneath its surface. Over the next two years, the team will keep an eye on changes in the lake in conjunction with carrying out tests on how water quality can be improved.
