Educational Opportunities for Water Management: Promoting Conscious Usage in the Community
SDGs 6.5.1 and 6.5.7
Since 2022, in collaboration with the local NGO Free Tree Society KL, Sunway University has been offering free educational opportunities for students and the local community focused on effective water management in gardening and plant care, as well as promoting conscious water usage in the wider community.
This annual initiative educates participants on water-conscious practices and sustainable water usage. A key aspect of the program highlights the use of rainwater harvesting systems, promoting the reuse of water to lessen the reliance on treated water from main supplies.
The University also provides paid educational opportunities for local communities to enhance their knowledge of effective water management practices through our micro-credentials program and master's program under the University’s Jeffrey Sachs Centre on Sustainable Development. These programs are designed to empower local communities with the tools and expertise needed to address sustainable-related challenges in both personal and professional contexts.
