Hj Nasaruddin Hj Zainal started his career with Panasonic in 1982 after graduating from MARA University of Technology. Thereon, he furthered his studies in the USA and graduated with a B.Sc. in Marketing in 1985 and an MBA in 1987. He is currently pursuing his doctoral degree in Islamic Finance at UNIRAZAK, Malaysia.

Upon graduation, he started his career in one of the top international Advertising Agency in Kuala Lumpur and handled major corporate accounts like Malaysia Airlines, Malaysian Tobacco Company, PETRONAS and Telecom Malaysia to name a few. He then moved to the Financial Industry where he started his career in insurance with AMAL Assurance now known as Sun Life Assurance Berhad. His last position in the conventional insurance was the Head of Retail Business in CIMB Aviva Assurance. His passion in Islamic Finance brought him to Syarikat Takaful IKHLAS where he served with dedication as the Vice President of Corporate Business, building the Banca Takaful business in the Financial Institutions as well as the Broking, Corporate and Government Treasury business. 

All in all, he had spent more than 12 years in senior management positions of various divisions in the Insurance and Takaful industry. He has extensive experience in Marketing and Sales, Human Capital Development, Marketing Communications, Customer Relationship Management and Agency Development. In 2013 he was engaged by FAA Berhad an agency under Bank Negara Malaysia and Securities Commission of Malaysia. As a Specialist the key task was to developed Learning Standards for the Insurance and Takaful industry. This position took him extensively to identify and work with the industry’s key players both in Malaysia and the Middle East. The Learning Standards for Islamic Finance - Takaful and Insurance was published in 2014. Presently he is a pursuing his PhD at UNIRAZAK in Kuala Lumpur and he is a member of the teaching faculty at Centre for Commercial Law and Justice, Sunway Business School, Sunway University.
