At all stages of University life, students are supported by the best International English teaching for academic and professional use. All lecturers are postgraduate specialists who blend teaching and learning with research.

The Centre for English Language Studies (CELS) supports the holistic development of English language fluency and accuracy. Our subjects meet the needs of Sunway College and Sunway University students. CELS provides vital English language skills for each student’s study and future working life.

There are two sections within CELS:

• Intensive English Programme (IEP)
• English for Specific Academic Purposes (ESAP) unit

The IEP is a full-time course that equips students with the English language skills necessary to undertake University programmes taught in English. The four-level programme helps prepare students for IELTs and Sunway University’s degree study. IEP students come from over thirty countries. The programme includes enjoyable multimedia learning.

The ESAP unit provides specialist English language subjects integrated into Diplomas and Degrees at Sunway University. There are special aspects for each of our English For… or Communication Skills subjects. Learning is customised for each Diploma or Degree. Lecturers also research English language blended learning, endangered languages, experiential approaches, digital literacy, assessment and the use of technology, so as to make learning really enjoyable.

All of us at CELS are multilingual English language speakers. We know that effective language learning is enjoyable.
