Hewawasam Puwakpitiyage Lakshan Sanjana: A Good Account of My Time
The experience of studying at a university is a wonderful time to gain knowledge, show initiative and gain self-confidence. To participate in society and learn new things that are integral to life. It is also an opportunity for students to grow personally and learn about different cultures, traditions, and environments. The university experience you get while studying is not limited to your major. Students are also exposed to other societies through university clubs and organisations. These clubs and organisations promote art, sports, culture, and more.
Hewawasam Puwakpitiyage Lakshan Sanjana graduated from Sunway University in 2018 with an Accounting and Finance degree. While his classroom learning was invaluable, the most crucial thing he learned was how to apply what he was learning in real-world situations. During his education at Sunway University, he interned for three months for a Big 4 Accounting firm. He feels that this experience allowed him to apply knowledge in real-world business settings and allowed me to continue learning on the job.
Upon graduation, Lakshan joined one of the largest banks in Malaysia as a management trainee. This experience was invaluable, as it allowed him to experience all aspects of the banking industry. He was able to work in various departments and learn about the different processes and procedures in each.
Lakshan also believes that he has learned plenty about time management and how it affects his ability to work under pressure. He knew how to manage time effectively, as well as gained the ability to work under pressure. “Understanding this about myself has helped me improve my productivity and efficiency.”
Lakshan also developed technical skills in accounting and finance through coursework at university. This has given him a strong understanding of how financial data are collected and analysed, which is essential for any finance professional.
As a student at Sunway University, Lakshan had the opportunity to participate in different societies and organisations. He was the Founding President of an NGO, flymalaysia.org), which is focused on improving financial literacy among youths, providing Lakshan with a great deal of insight into the issues society faces today.
He had the opportunity to participate in a few student competitions, including the Maybank GO Ahead Challenge 2017, where Lakshan tested his skills and competed with university students. This competition taught him how to work with a team, manage time effectively and innovatively solve problems. These experiences helped Lakshan become more confident in his abilities and even allowed him to meet new people from different backgrounds.
Lakshan's experience at Sunway University has been instrumental in shaping him into the successful professional he is today. He has learned invaluable skills and knowledge essential for his career in accounting and finance. He is a true example of a Sunway University graduate who is ready to make a positive impact on the world.
