Research Ethics Workshop
Sunway University recognises its community obligation to ensure that all research activities are done in compliance with the required ethical standards and that staff and students are regarded as positive role models among their peers and in the larger community.
All research involving humans, animals, or recombinant DNA technology is formally approved by committees in order to maintain such standards. The University is committed to supporting research activities by engaging the Sunway University research community on ethical problems related to research activities and monitoring research activities to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Responsible Research Training
As part of the engagement, students are provided the opportunity to participate in workshops covering various aspects of responsibilities and ethics in the conduct of research, such as research misconduct, human subject research, animal research, and lab safety (including handling of biosafety materials).
Workshop Outcomes
As a result of attending this workshop, you will:
- Understand the principles of ethical research design and conduct
- Have an awareness of relevant codes of practice and guidelines
- Know when and how the ethical review should be sought for research
- Understand what to look for when carrying out an ethical review
- Know where to find guidance, advice, and support
