Meagan Theresa Tan Chiu San is a proud alumna of the BA (Hons) in the Communication programme, specialising in Advertising Design. Having graduated from the class of March 2017, she is now the Content and Community Lead at Crunch by Nuffnang Malaysia. Crunch is a community-driven content platform with a mission to inspire every young Malaysian to be the best version of themselves.

Aspiring to share impactful content that brings memorable and insightful experiences, the platform covers various topics from career to personal development, money matters, wellness, and everything in between. As the Content and Community Lead, Meagan’s primary role involves planning and developing content strategies for Crunch, effectively placing her at the heart of Crunch’s mission.

Recounting her experience at the Sunway University School of Arts, Meagan expressed her gratitude to her lecturers who guided her and helped to strengthen her skill set for her job. Meagan was able to discover her strengths within the field of Communications, eventually leading her to specialise in Advertising Design. “I truly valued and enjoyed the fact that I was able to learn in a more open, honest, and flexible environment where the lecturers had a mutual respect and understanding for students,” she comments. Despite having graduated 5 years ago, Meagan still keeps in touch with a few of her lecturers.

Additionally, Meagan cited that the many fond memories made in her varsity years revolved around the connections she made with her coursemates. The BA (Hons) in Communication programme’s course structure with a focus on group assignments allowed her to connect with her peers, fostering important soft skills such as teamwork and time management. She also broadened her horizons on how to communicate with others and how to carry herself in the professional world.

Taking these developed skills and experiences to the workplace, Meagan finds fulfilment in directly applying what she has learned to her work with the team at Crunch. As a company with a strong focus on teamwork, she can communicate with her colleagues easily as they work towards a collective goal. Meagan fully enjoys what she does at Crunch because she works with a team who developed a strong “work hard, play hard” culture, which fosters strong relationships within the team and equips her with important skills in balancing her professional and personal life.

Meagan now is inspired to contribute to impacting the society around her. Crunch by Nuffnang’s mission to inspire growth in Malaysian young adults is particularly meaningful to her, as it resonates with her personal belief that only through growth can one take his/her potential to the next level and see what he/she can unfold. Meagan thrives on being able to contribute to a bigger picture and the end goal in both her work and personal life and has developed a guiding principle of finding purpose and intention in whatever she sets out to be.

Regarding her future, the Communications alumna believes that phases in life will always change, but the principles she has learned and developed from her varsity years will guide her in the long run with any goal in her life.
