Short Course Overview
The training programme is designed to cater to baristas or tea specialists, hospitality professionals, and home baristas or tea enthusiasts who are seeking to acquire foundational skills and knowledge in the field. Over the course of 5 days, participants will engage in a comprehensive learning experience that combines theory, presentations, demonstrations, hands-on practice, and on-the-job coaching.

- Upsell and take orders based on customer preferences
- Consistently prepare and present espresso-based beverages.
- Suggest alternative brewing methods, enhancing sales and satisfaction.
- Properly steep tea and recommend options to customers.
- Troubleshoot inconsistencies and maintain quality control.

Each participant will be provided with an in-depth training manual, a certificate of participation, and a certification of completion for those who pass the final assessment.

Trainer Profile
Associate Professor Dr Daniel Chong Ka Leong is a seasoned hospitality professional with over 17 years of experience in higher education and professional training. He is a certified hospitality trainer and a Master-level Professional Barista, awarded by Illy Universita Trieste, Italy. Prior to education line, Dr Daniel Chong has worked in the food and beverage industry as an operation manager, F&B consultant, and training manager at various multinational hotel groups, multinational franchised restaurants and a hospitality consulting firm.
He is not only an academician that teaches about coffee but also a social online learning coffee educator for OpenLearning, one of the largest lifelong learning micro-credential platforms in the world. He has organized coffee workshops and menu consulting work.
Besides, he is an official coach for Barista Competitions and was awarded Best Coach of the Year for 2 consecutive years (2012-2014) by Nestle Professional Malaysia.
