How has the programme equipped students for employment? 

From the very beginning of my time at Sunway Business School, I firmly believed that my training as an individual with exceptional professional acumen had commenced. Throughout the programme, which culminated in obtaining a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance, I acquired a profound understanding of the significance of comprehensive personal development. Among the various components of the curriculum, the business dissertation proved particularly instrumental in expanding my horizons and granting me access to the Malaysian job market. Moreover, the seminars and workshops organised by Sunway Business School served as a vital platform for bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Notably, the invaluable insights shared by visiting faculty and guest speakers with substantial industry experience enabled us to truly comprehend the intricacies of corporate Accounting and Finance practices.

How has the programme equipped students to contribute to society? 

The Accounting and Finance programme equips students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and values to make meaningful contributions to society across diverse domains. An essential aspect of societal progress involves fostering financial literacy, and graduates of this programme play a crucial role in this endeavor. By offering guidance on budgeting, saving, and prudent investment, they empower individuals to make informed financial decisions. This, in turn, alleviates financial strain, enhances overall well-being, and cultivates a society that is better equipped to navigate the intricacies of personal finance.

Throughout my academic journey in pursuing a Bachelor of Accounting and Finance, Mr. Arumugam Muthusamy, the Manager of Alumni Relations & Student Engagement, has been a mentor figure who has consistently guided me in setting goals, honing skills, and navigating challenges. His continuous support has presented me with numerous opportunities, such as attending insightful talks delivered by renowned speakers. One such event I had the privilege of attending was the Asian Business School Student Engagement and Alumni Entrepreneurship, organised by the Sunway Business School Alumni Relations and Student Engagement and Student Concilium. Through Mr. Arumugam's efforts, I had the chance to engage in an interactive discussion with Professor Lim Weng Marc, the Dean of Sunway Business School, where we explored various aspects of the academic and holistic student experience at Sunway University. Overall, Mr. Arumugam has displayed a genuine personal interest in my academic and professional growth, offering invaluable guidance and unwavering support.

What skills were acquired from the programme of study that benefitted them (eg. Entrepreneurial skills, teamwork, etc):  

Among the various skills I have acquired during the programme, the most significant one is problem-solving. Given the dynamic nature of businesses, being able to identify financial issues, analyse annual reports, and devise effective solutions has proven invaluable. As students, we are constantly challenged to think innovatively and provide relevant recommendations that go beyond conventional approaches. Additionally, teamwork is another crucial skill fostered throughout the accounting and finance programme. Engaging in group projects and assignments has enabled me to develop strong collaborative and team-working abilities. These skills proved particularly beneficial during my internship, as they facilitated effective collaboration with colleagues toward achieving shared goals.

Campus experience – holistic student experience: 

I was filled with excitement when I was on the verge of beginning university, eager to meet individuals from diverse backgrounds and listen to their unique journeys. The adage about finding lifelong friends at university turned out to be true, as my university friends have become cherished companions. Despite not residing on campus, I was undeterred in forging numerous friendships. Sunway University boasts a vibrant student life, offering a wide array of co-curricular activities encompassing clubs and societies, community service initiatives, and sports teams. Intrigued by this vibrant atmosphere, I joined several clubs and societies. Throughout my time at Sunway University, I actively participated as a member of the Sunway Diploma Student Council, Sunway Fitness Club, and Sunway Football Club. Engaging in these activities enhanced not only my academic prowess but also my personal and leadership skills, contributing to a well-rounded student experience.
